Glenrothes Art Club Annual Exhibition - Monday 30 August  –  Thursday 7 October 2010

Now in its 55th year of activity, Glenrothes Art Club continues to provide excellent opportunities for local people to participate in the visual arts. With a membership of over 80, ranging in age from 16 years to 80+ years, the club is thriving. The highlight of the art club’s year is the annual exhibition, which has been held in Rothes Halls for many years. The exhibition is a valuable way for the club to promote its work in the community and for individual artists to gain recognition.

Glenrothes Now by Alexander Guy - 11 October – 20 November 2010

‘Glenrothes Now’ is an exhibition of oil paintings presenting a true, honest, candid, down to earth, visual souvenir of modern and contemporary life in Glenrothes.  Townscapes featuring the local vicinity and ‘still lifes’ of familiar and popular shopping and grocery goods bought in Glenrothes will visually combine to form a clear, positive statement embracing life in Glenrothes.
Alexander intends that his exhibition will be uplifting, positive and generous, reflecting the spirit of the town and its people.

Sharmanka Travelling Circus - 25 November – 31 December 2010

‘Sharmanka’ means ‘Hurdy Gurdy’ in Russian and these fascinating sculptures are the creation of sculptor-mechanic Eduard Bersudsky and theatre director Tatyana Jakovskaya.  Once an hour, this magnificent menagerie of recycled metal will spring to life to perform an incredible choreography to haunting music and synchronised light, weaving funny and tragic stories about human life.
