Residential Care Worker (Internal Applicants Only)
- Fife Council
Area : Kirkcaldy Closing Date : 05/03/2012 Ref : FIF004360
View Job Summary
Internal Applicants Only
The Social Work Service offers two types of help to children and their families in Fife:
Assessment of need and risk: Time with a social worker who may provide information, advice and a planned, assessed analysis of difficult situations in order to improve a child's and/or family's difficulties
Direct service provision: Care, protection, support and accommodation (including residential houses and family placements with foster carers)
Our highest priority is the protection of children who may be at risk of harm, and the support of families to allow children to remain at home wherever possible. Where this is not in children's best interests, our focus is on providing the best quality of care away from home for children and young people.
Social Work staff work closely with colleagues in other services and agencies in providing an integrated approach that seeks to meet the range of different and complex needs that vulnerable children and their families experience.
You will work with young people who are being looked after in small residential houses in the community.
You should have a warm nurturing and energetic approach to work alongside the existing staff team in providing a homely environment for the young people.
The philosophy of the service is to provide a positive culture where young people can develop and grow as individuals.
It is essential to have a HNC in Social Care and a SVQ Level III is desirable.
Sleeping in duties may be required on occasion.
Prior to confirming appointment, we will undertake an enhanced criminal records check through Disclosure Scotland, in addition to which you will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council.
Online applications are encouraged, however if you wish to complete a paper application form please ensure that you contact the telephone number stated and a form will be sent to you. Please note that you must complete the application form sent for this specific job otherwise we are unable to accept your application.
